“It’s not what you achieve, it’s what you overcome. That’s what defines your career.”

This quote is as true as it could be for any person trying their hand best at life to make an earning. The efforts you put in your life, are the ones that define you more than the ones you let the destiny decide. Being a harry potter fan, I would say that the line from the movie is pretty accurate that your choices define you. Your career, your path is your choice and nobody else’s. That’s a completely different thing if your are manipulated or change your mindset by falling into the sweet words of the people who apparently want the best for you. (but obvious never more than them). There are a lot of careers than the one we focus on, and maybe what we focus on or want doesn’t end up being the one that we will do in the future, because with time and age we explore more in life as we get older, we see more interests, more opportunities with opened arms.

Law is just another field with endless opportunities. And a brighter perspective is that we can not just stick to one field, rather we can mix our knowledge of different fields together to make a better outcome than we would by clinging to one.

SOME FIELDS OF SPECIALIZATION IN LAW (I will tell other options after focusing on the field of law)

1. CRIMINAL LAWYER : Who doesn’t love a little drama? The amount of study in this type of law is lesser than civil law. But the amount of brain applied is more due to crimes that can be grievous or the cases where the result is hard to find. The other point of view is when the plaintiff (the one who files the case) and the defendant (the one who defends itself), both rely on their respective lawyers to get them their wanted results and both of them are doing things which are selfish purposes.

2. CIVIL LITIGATION LAWYER : Solving the property disputes, taxation, and excise, if this all is your calling, then go ahead!

3. LEGAL ANALYST : Do not undermine this one. The work is corporate but can bring a lot of career scope if you do it right. Company work and winning the cases for them. To be honest, much of it is the office work reading files and creating contracts for the company.

4. DOCUMENT DRAFTING LAWYER : Pretty much the same as the contract creation work.

5. LEGAL JOURNALIST : Okay, here is when you can fulfill your dream to be a journalist with law as a wider scope to be in the headlines with your point of view. You can cover all types of cases for your channel or newspaper or magazine or online portal. You can also do debate shows.

6. GOVERNMENT LAWYER : A government lawyer is the one who fights cases for the government or is assigned by the government for the people who are unable to find a lawyer for themselves. These are also known as public prosecutors.

7. JUDGE : Be a judge of a court and deliver judgements on the cases. It is a highly respectable job and also requires wise mind with good decision making skills. It also requires in depth and vast knowledge of law.

8. TEACHER : Become a law teacher at a university. This is the most preferred job by the ones who want to live a life connected with law and also utilize the best of the leftover time.

9. LEGAL OUTSOURCING : Law firms obtain the services from other law firms. This is called offshoring when the other law firm is based in another country.

The money in each field of law can be minimum 5,000 INR to maximum 50 thousand or above and can exceed depending on the position and experience of the person and how good they make of it by themselves. It completely depends on the skills of the person on how they get to earn what they do.

There are different fields of law, not just depending on these. It is a vast subject with deep knowledge on each aspect of it.

Currently, sports law, corporate law and international law are very much in the eyes of the budding lawyers as compared to criminal and civil law. There are many who prefer to become marriage or divorce lawyer.

There is another category, it is also in demand to have such lawyers depending on the global conditions, these are the Immigration Lawyers. They are in need because of the wars or the natural calamities. The settling difficulties that the people of other country face when they try to enter a new country are all sorted by them. There are also such immigration lawyers who help in getting married or help you find an eligible partner for marriage in another country and with that help you get a permanent citizenship to another country.

10. Army JAG : It is the position for the Judge Advocate General in the Indian Army.

11. Career in Indian Air Force : Ground Duty Branch for the lawyers. They manage the affairs of the Indian Air Force.

My advice is, go ahead with law if you are ready to face challenges with a new level of confidence and empowerment. You should know that nothing is easy or difficult, it all depends on if you want to do it or not. Also, make sure to proceed into a certain field only if you are 100% sure to do it. You can also change your field as per time, need and interest. But certain fields like the government jobs are not changed that easily.
