Constitution Day Thoughts By Senior Advocate Indira Jaising

Honestly, I am very inspired by Senior Advocate Ms. Indira Jaising. Recently, she spoke at an event celebrating Constitution Day, ‘Constitution through the ages’.

She stated some things that I honestly relate to, to the core.

While people of my generation fought for social and economic justice, we also took our rights for granted. We thought that civil and political rights cannot be attacked. However, speaking for myself, I find that for the last 10 years my own civil and political rights are under attack.

She also found that the constitutional rights of the minorities, intellectuals and the activists were also under attack.

…I consider myself as one of Midnight's children. Which also qualifies me to speak on the Indian Constitution. There aren't many people who still have a memory of India's first Independence Day.

Her words inspire me to be a better lawyer as well as a better person, to do the most for the society that I can.

Hearing her inspirations coming from eminent Justices, she becomes my inspiration, that I can find more about, how she was also one of us, inspired by events around her. She not only is a nationalist, but also internationalist. That is very relatable to how I see myself as a Global person. (reference, my website)

Senior Advocate Geeta Luthra, also stated something very important at the event, that we should not be shy of delivering the truth and be true to ourselves, coming out of our comfort place shells.

In the end, I would like to say, Please, work on yourself, to be the best version and best lawyer that you could possibly be, every single day. You will reach the sky, within no time. Consistency is Key.
