All us girls find are troubles to deal with something we’re accused of all of lives for feeling anything. I am talking about the ‘Premenstrual Syndrome’, just the one stated in the heading of this very blog. Haven’t you got bored with the sentences, “ Is it that time of the month?” , “Don’t let anyone know you’re on your period” or “Only women get periods, why are you making it a social justice thing?”.
Well, while mood swings are a real biological issue, you don’t necessarily have to face the people saying how you are not allowed to have them. And here in this article I am going to provide as much information as I can about how to lessen the mood swings and that stress and irritation they create around you.
Recognize the first signs of PMS. They can be :
1. Anger
2. Irritability
3. Over-sensitivity
4. Nervousness
5. Anxiousness
6. Rage
7. Sadness
8. Depression
9. Breakouts
10. Constipation
11. Bloating
12. Food cravings
13. Fatigue
14. Cramps
There are very simple ways if you look at it to make it affect you lesser, now that you are aware you can cure it.
We just need to put things in our day to day routine and that is that easy. The point as always is to do. The point as always is to make a change for the better. The root to the cause is basically just our hormones and they seem to dance their way out of our control, so out of our control that we face the issues that I just stated above.
Just imagine a day of PMS where you don’t feel any. A less troubled one I guess. So, to all the girls who don’t get PMS, congratulations, you can still do the things I will state for your own benefit of health (both mental and physical).
To all the girls who do get to face it, let’s make it easier to face and make life a little less of a trouble, one day at a time.
PREMENSTRUAL DYSPHORIC DISORDER : In this condition, women get depressed and irritated 1 or 2 weeks before the period.
Lower serotonin levels are associated with depression, irritability, and carbohydrate cravings, all of which can be PMS symptoms. - Everyday Health
A little change in the daily lifestyle will do a major change in the handling of the mood swings. The treatment of this very small looking but hugely effecting our lifestyle problem, will have a lesser impact.
I TRIED, IT DID WORK. It may or may not work for you, you may need a doctor, but trying once in a determined way doesn’t harm anyone. It will only help you in your fitness.
The best way to burn out all that anger, agitation, irritation and depression and sadness away is through the sweat. Think of it as a way to throw away all the bad emotions or feelings that make you feel low or blue to be out of the way for the upcoming day or from the day. EXERCISE your days’ negativity out. Bring back the good vibes. With an added benefit of a fitter body and mind! Walks, Running, Swimming and Cycling and/or just some daily doze of a dance session alone for an hour or so are enough to rejuvenate you and fix your hormonal imbalance altogether.
Rather than having a meal that makes your stomach bloated, which even I do, you should let your stomach get small quantities of food at intervals. (Duh, not movie intervals! XD ) Try to fit fruits to your diet and less of caffeine (Honestly, I am a coffee lover and it kills me saying it) But, it is the best for your health and I agree I have cut down my caffeine and I added water and juices instead. It is healthier that way and keeps your stomach from having too much and being prone to fat and prone to binge on the junk. It makes you feel full without adding the unnecessary worry of being unhealthy. (I’m no doctor, see your physician or pediatrician) It is just an advice. All in all it helps prevent BLOOD SUGAR SWINGS in the body.
Add more calcium to the diet. It helps in fighting the fight against depression and fatigue.
Stress is a daily partner for us in this race of life. We give our all to it, to be at the top or in the elite. Stress not only causes the delay in periods, it also causes irritability and emotional imbalance. It increases the risk of your PMS from becoming mild to moderate and moderate to severe. Try techniques to give yourself a little time each day to relax and not take the burden of stress. Don’t give into this rat race for once minimum 5 minutes of your day for your sake. YOUR MIND AND BODY’S SAKE. Because the stakes with stress are higher, this also causes the mood to swing towards the sugary foods and the caffeine or alcohol you would want to avoid before periods.
Give it a shot to do daily meditation of 5 minutes. Apps like “Headspace” can help if you don’t know where to start.
Another tip is to do deep breathing whenever you feel that eye burning, body aching and mind exhausting feeling. Breathe all the good energy in, let all the good vibes out and surround you with an even more positive aura to keep you going!
Take some good supplements like fish oil tablets and vitamins, after consulting your doctor of course. I don’t want you to get sick, before you start getting better.
Keep mind calm by reading good books, watching positive or funny shows and set better mood by HOT BATHS or cold, whichever is your preference.
EAT CHOCOLATES WHEN IT PAINS, it is a pain remover in its own sense. Dark chocolate is advised.
To care of your body is to take care of your mind and vice versa. Don’t neglect either of them. Be grateful to god you have all that you do, I know I am.
Make the most out of the least. Spread the good and it will come back to you more than you asked or wished for. (especially in case of a healthy and fit mind and body)

Nice❤️
